Dear Parent / Carer,
Welcome to Grangetown Primary School! Croeso i Ysgol Gynradd Grangetown!
I am delighted to share that, after two terms as Acting Headteacher, I have now been appointed as the substantive Headteacher. It is a privilege to continue leading our school and to build on the strong foundations already in place, recognised in our recent successful Estyn inspection.
I have been part of the Grangetown community for 26 years, working closely with children, families and staff. Having been a class teacher and served as Deputy Headteacher for six years, I am deeply committed to our school and proud to lead such a diverse, inclusive and vibrant community.
Our core values—respect, kindness, fairness, being healthy and hard-working—are central to everything we do. We are dedicated to supporting our children to become confident, creative and independent learners, guided by our motto: ‘Learning together for a brighter future’.
We provide a rich and balanced curriculum, underpinned by literacy, numeracy and digital skills, and we value strong partnerships with parents and carers. You, as parents and carers, play a vital role in education, and I encourage regular communication. We offer a monthly newsletter, regular parent coffee catch-ups, open afternoons and formal parents’ evenings to keep you informed of your child’s progress. We are fortunate to have a committed Governing Body that supports our goals for continuous improvement.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at grangetownprm@cardiff.gov.uk .
Yours sincerely,
Nicki Herbert
